The Three Awards seen here have an interesting backstory. The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) award was presented to the creators of the “Health Royale” project, a Hollywood Squares-style interactive multimedia game show installation with celebrity characters playing the roles of various parts of the human body, i.e., Elvis is called Pelvis in the game. Installed in the COSI childrens museum in Columbus, Ohio, two children from a touring group would be picked to be X and O and play the game with a Groucho-skeleton Emcee named Bones. All of the questions and answers were recorded, edited and converted to spec by Randy Tobin at Theta Sound Studio. Health Royale received the top award for Outstanding Achievement in the Limited Budget (under $750,000) category. The beautiful center statuette is the Aurora Platinum Best of Show award (details in the next Gallery photo). The Just Plain Folks (JPF) awards are very special as they come from the world’s largest grassroots music organization of the same name. Bettie Ross recorded a special piano album called “A Magical Time of Year” here at Theta Sound Studio. Upon its completion, Bettie entered the album and various tracks in the JPF Awards competition and flew to Nashville, Tennessee, to attend the ceremony where she was surprised and stunned to hear her name called for not one, but two awards: Best Solo Piano Album and Best Solo Piano Song! Randy Tobin received his awards as engineer for the record.
